The highlights of the trek include a short flight from Kathmandu to the Tenjaing and Hilary airport (Lukla) situated around 2800m from the sea level, a scenic view of the Dudh Koshi River, and hiking trail garnished with Mani stones engraved with Buddhist prayers. The other attraction includes Namche bazaar (3440m), a primitive Sherpa village housing area in this shallow valley. Most trekkers stop here for two nights of acclimatization in local lodges/tea houses while the meantime enjoying the view of Mt. Amadablam and Mt. Everest on a side tour to Everest View Hotel and Khumjung Monastery. Tyangbuche monastery is the largest in the region and also one of the attraction sites in the Khumbu region. An hour's hike to Kalapathar (5555m) from Gorakshep is astoundingly rewarding in the Everest Base Camp Trekking with the best panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Gokyo, Khumbu glacier and Mt. Choyou.
